Hope in the Midst of Uncertainty – Vernon E. Hubbard [April 12, 2020]
April 12, 2020
Matthew 28:1-6
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
Life right now, as we know it, is uncertain. We are all finding ourselves living in a new normal. But is it possible, in the midst of uncertainty, this new normal, to find hope? Just as the women who traveled to the tomb of Jesus early that Sunday morning, as we also keep walking towards Christ, we will find the hope that confronts our perceptions about our situation, that encourages us to celebrate our present, that confirms what He has proclaimed, and that calls us into partnership with Him. Once we find that hope, we will be able to live in the victory that belongs to Jesus, even in uncertainty.
