My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love – so you can’t know him if you don’t love.
1 John 4:7 (MSG)
Martin Luther King Jr, once said, “Love is the most durable power in the world…Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.”Who would imagine that the most durable and powerful force in the universe derives from a four letter word? Songs are written about it, poems express it, couples are stimulated by it, yet many people don’t understand it. Ask someone on the streets, “What is Love?” and you will hear baffling responses cloaked in cliches and platitudes. You will hear plenty of descriptions, but no real definitions. In a real sense, Love is more than a feeling, more than an emotion, much more than an expression on a greeting card. The origin of love is first and foremost God. The Bible reminds us of this dynamic truth, “God is love;” therefore, love is an expression of His essence. All that God does for us is motivated by His love for us. What about you? What motivates your actions? Is it LOVE?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for loving me in spite of me. Your love is perfect! Help me to live out Your love.
